The Diddley Idols are Queens Native, Dave Barckow (Eileen Ivers) and Dubliner, Louise Barry (Celtic Angels). The New York based duo with the full band sound. After a chance encounter in 2012, Dave and Louise’s undeniable chemistry made them inseparable and together they formed the World Record holding “The Diddley Idols” in 2013, dropping the “American” from Dave’s previous title. As two lead vocalists, they added Dave’s foot operated drum kit and guitar and mandolin and Louise’s ukulele and percussion to finish out their sound. Their high octane mix of pop and Irish traditional tunes and all the party rock you can handle will having you singing and dancing all night long. Dave’s energy and ability to chat to anyone make him a crowd favorite while you can often find professional dancer Louise doing a step anywhere there's space. A live “tour de force” and “proof that great things really do come in small packages!”
DAVE BARCKOW
Woodside, Queens native Dave Barckow has been playing music professionally since the age of 12. Starting out playing drums at bars & clubs all over the NYC area at a very young age has led to many performances and recordings with several national and international acts in many different styles including Elektra recording artist White Trash (Hard Rock) Celtic Cross, Raglan Road, Alter Na Trad (Irish/Celtic) Halcion (Alternative Rock) ATTAKKU (Latin) Mortal Remains (Heavy Metal) to name just a few.
For well over 20 years, after dedicating all his time and talents to playing Irish/Celtic music Dave performs well over 300 gigs per year, mostly singing and playing guitar while playing a foot operated drum kit. He can be seen regularly at the Garvey's Irish Pub and O'Donoghue's in Time Square & The Rambling House, in the Bronx. Dave also performs several times per year at RiRa Irish Pub at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Tropicana Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ as well as their Washington DC location, performing his modern take on Irish Traditional Music with some of the finest musicians and singers from Ireland, Canada and the U.S. Weeks long residencies at Raglan Road Pub in Disney World Orlando, Florida and frequent tours performing throughout Ireland round out his yearly performance schedule.
Since 1998 Dave has been regarded as the first port of call for Irish music in New York City both as an entertainer and a booking agent.
Dave is the drummer/percussionist and vocalist for world renowned Irish artist, Eileen Ivers and Universal Roots performing at music festivals all around the world.
Dave, as a member of BMI and ASCAP is also an accomplished song writer whose songs have been used in several prime time network TV shows.
LOUISE BARRY
Dublin native Louise Barry started her Performing Arts training at the age of two, studying in Dublin and New York and London.
Louise's professional career began at a very early age. Her theatre highlights have included 'Les Miserables','The Full Monty’,‘The Sleeping Beauty’,‘Cinderella', DCD on Broadway'.
Louise's pint sized stature and giant voice gained development deals with two major record labels in the UK and Ireland. Having performed as a featured vocalist for four seasons with the National Concert Orchestra, Dublin, she went on to make numerous network television and radio appearances. She has lent her distinctive voice to two seasons of 'Wilde Nights' Irish Cabaret as well as to more Irish and international artists than she can think of. As a choreographer, Louise's work has be seen in countless productions, venues and music videos including Wembley Arena and The Coronas. For over a decade, Louise has toured Ireland and Europe fronting some of Ireland's most sought after event and cover bands.
Since coming to the United States, Louise has assisted in breaking a World Record, performed to sold out audiences all over the world. Louise is the Writer, Director, Movement Choreographer and Lead Angel in the US National Tour of 'The Celtic Angels'. As the co-messer of The Diddley Idols, you can catch her (if you can) singing up a storm and doing a step or two on top of bars all over the country.
